Hi, I need to buy a digital recorder to record things from the television to use for teaching. I need to get the programmes on to a DVD to show via a computer in the classroom (can't be in any other format than DVD). Can anyone recommed a product to purchase to do this. i don't mind spending a little bit on the investment but just don't know where to start. Many of the Sky plus type boxes don't offer the option to record to a disc so it is useless to me.
Any ideas?

Any recordable DVD player should be able to do that, as long is it's not solely HDD? My Samsung DVD recorder can record to DVD disc and re-writable DVD disc (may be handy so you dont need a stack of discs?!), or to the HDD, but either way from TV/freeview or sky. My box cost just over £200 least year, but you can get them cheaper now...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

As above, I personally favour Panasonic DVD recorders.
Are there not copyright issues involved in recording stuff at home and using it for public display? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

there are special rules for showing programmes for educational purposes, yes. Working in an education establishment we have people to advise us what we can and can't show so I normally go through these when i am doing stuff like this. Most stuff I have used in the past on VHS has been ok.
More bothered about getting and recording stuff to show at the mo!0 -
Something like this one then? Multiformat, HDMI upscaling and built in Freeview tuner.

I do hope that you are not teaching English.

Lovely comment there, nice to know that I have such a critical eye cast over comments being posted on a thread. I only wanted advice over a DVD recorder, not my grammar, spelling or English. I thought the aim of this site was to help each other out with money saving, does it matter how such requests are posted as long as they make sense?0

I just kind of hoped that someone that states that they are a teacher would demonstrate a better example, obviously not.:rolleyes:0
