Unfreezing an account?? Urgent!!

Hi

I have finally managed to get through to Working Tax Credits after trying for a couple of days and it is too late to stop the payment going into my HSBC account for Thursday. They have agreed that in future they will send a giro until I have my bank details for my coop cashminder account I am opening.

The problem is that the account the money will go into on Thursday will more than likely have been frozen by then as I went BR yesterday. Will the OR unfreeze it do you think as I have to have this money for essential living costs like groceries etc. The account it is going into didn't have an overdraft facility but HSBC is one of my creditors so could they keep hold of it.

Sorry if this is a bit rambly I just desperately need to be able to get at this money or I don't know how we will manage this week :(

Contact the OR office ASAP "if" the account is frozen it's usually the banks that do that NOT the OR although the OR can easily release any funds from the account pretty quickly

If the account does get frozen, then you need to contact your OR.

They will normally call/fax the bank to instruct them to release to you any funds that you need for day to day living.

    EDIT: Snap Phil. :D

  • Thanks fermi & phil.

The OR's office opens at 10 so I'll phone them and get them to help make sure that I can get it when it goes in on Thursday.

You might be ok anyway and be able to get the money out as my OR took about 3 weeks to tell HSBC about me.

Same here. It took about a month for my Nat West accounts to get closed :)
