Help needed In simpleton terms please

Hi can someone please explain to me step by step slowly and clearly how you shorten a url link on here, I already know how to do scroll, pics, etc etc but each time I try to change a long link to say just "here" for instance it comes up 'no page to display' can someone tell me how to do it right many thanks :-*

Have a read through this thread.

It sounds like the "http://..." part of your post may be corrupt. You ARE starting the link with "http://" aren't you?? Otherwise the web browser may be looking for a link on your hard drive - which will not exist.

Enter it like this, but remove the spaces inside the square brackets.

[ url=http://your.long.url.goes.here]The short text goes here [ /url]

looks like this when you've typed it (don't forget to omit the spaces, which I've put in so you can see it )

To find out how it is done do a "Quote" on someone elses message and look to see what they did. You can pick up lots of ideas like that. Then abandon your "quote" by clicking "back".
