I guess i'm subscribing too but our letter asks for bank statements mortgage payments loan agreements childcare contracts contract of employment and p60's and ours is for 06/07 and 07/08, its making me physically sick the more i think about it because i now know that i was overpayed for 06/07 having checked my awards i went on mat leave that year and deducted the £2600 to discount for mat pay but when i checked our award they've deducted another £2600 so i'm so worried about whats going to happen, has anyone had to send any info in and got a response yet?
any help appreciated0 -
I still havn't heard anything since my letter dated 20th July saying they will be enquiring into my claim for 06/07. I have since bit the bullet & phoned the helpline to ask where they are with it but they were not able to tell me anything as their system does not show the progress of an enquiry only that I have been sent the letter. I asked if I could speak to the department handling the enquiry so I could check with them but was told this was not possible.
So over a month down the line, still no news????? Is this a good or bad sign?0 -
Me neither....lets hope the saying 'No news is goods news' is true. I reckon they have already carried out the enquiryand just have to let you know they are looking into your records. I think they are looking for real fraudsters?0

If it helps anyone I remember having one of these in 2005, with the initial notification landing on my doorstep mid July time. They wanted all available information about my household expenses. And yes I felt the panic attacks, and wondered why they had picked me out.
Following that I was requested to attend my local tax office for an interview...
The actual tax officer had got his figures wrong as he had incorrectly based his calculations on only one of my children attending nursery and in actual fact 2 of them were at nursery, so he was very into advising me of a massive overpayment/penalty/fine whatever. I then asked if I could call and confirm with the nursery that my daughter was in actual attendance of the questioned period, he declined checked his notes and realised the nursery had confirmed that both children were there.
I kept my cool
So the upshot is that they had made a slight overpayment in one of the financial years and a mahoosiive underpayment in another financial year!!
He arranged for everything to be adjusted, and all payments to be recalculated.
These enquiries can sometimes work in your favour as for me.
But the whole enquiry lasted from Jul - November, when all the awards were finalised and corrected.

Hi I had one of these letters in July too and have heard nothing else since - has anyone heard any more - I'm still worried!0
-
No , still waiting, I have heard nothing from them since the original letter back in July.
Nothing, zip, nil, nada!!
It's been 4 months now and I'd almost forgot about it until I saw your post. Maybe I should write and give them a deadline of 31st July 2009 to let me know their findings!!!0 -
Finally, I have had an outcome from their letter from last July!
I got the letter yesterday short and sweet saying -
"On 20th July 2008 we told you that we were enquiring into your tax credits claim for the year ending 5th April 2007. We have now completed our enquiry and we will send you an award notice to confirm the decision we made on 24th September 2007. We have not changed the amount of your award or your payments for 2006-2007."
So that's it! It took 8 months for them to do their enquiry and let me know their decision and at no point did they ask me for any further information or documents.
Not that I'm complaining, I certainly count myself one of the lucky ones.
So I guess in my case -
Yep, it takes a while for them to complete.
An enquiry doesn't always mean you have been overpaid.
Still not sure if it was random. But I'm breathing a sigh of relief.
Hope you other guys get a similar result.0
