How can the criteria change from applying for the card and upon waiting for it to arrive the criteria changes this isnt the price of crude oil you know its surely wrong 1 minute yes you can have the card - next minute you cannot.
i like Egg but this sucks and not a fair policy indeed...

All new criteria have to have a starting point. Other than the fact that this time it happened to be between the initial acceptance and the production/distribution of the account and card is this really any different to people having their cards cancelled by Egg last year when they introduced tighter criteria?

You are probably right. However I have their Egg money card as well as the credit card and the money card is great for stoozing and l like the idea of being able to have a positive balance on the card.

yes I agree! If you can play them to your advantage then hats off to you.

I got shot of all my credit cards about 3 months ago - feels like quite a weight off the old shoulders! Learnt my lesson - lesson being that I'm not to good with money I haven't got.

My experience with Egg was ok at first but then after 2 years of being with them they just kept jacking up the interest - so I ditched them...and the rest!

I just can't understand why people want a credit card for "emergencies". This was what was being spouted to me by the credit card companies when I cancelled my cards. They had the nerve to feed me fantasy scenarios where I would need a credit card???

Plan for an emergency by saving your OWN money!

As I said, all criteria changes have a start date. As an example (figures for illustration), if on 31/07/08 their criteria states you must earn 10k pa and you earnt 11k then you would qualify. If on 01/08/08 the bosses decided to change the criteria for qualification to people who earnt 12k pa or more then you no longer would and they could cancel the acceptance before all the paperwork was processed and cards sent out. Other people who earnt 10-12k may well have had their cards cancelled. That also wouldn't require an additional search as it would be information in your application.

In my view credit cards are essential if you buy anything off the internet. You just dont get the same protection with debit cards. Also, I use a credit card when buying any expensive purchase to get the extra protection/insurance etc.
  • Same thing happen... to me Last week my application was accepted for £3000 and now I called to find out they declined it! after some idiot called me and check all details I submitted. I got good credit score and electoral roll registered for mroe than 3 years on same address.

Is it worth contacting them to review my application again?

    Advice please....

Because it's their money and they can choose at any time they no longer want to let you make use of it!
