Can we get back to the original point of this thread as it has gone off at a tangent! Fair enough if you want to voice your opinion on Nestle, but this is a thread on a potential test panel for Nestle and not on how bad the Nestle company is. If you want to do that, start a new thread or say your peice and leave it at that and let others get back to the original point of this thread.

  • Think that comment was not needed TorrestheGreat.

The test that kim-ley is refering to is from The MARS panel not the nestle one.

I'm not sure joining the mailing list gets you onto the consumer panel. I emailed them recently and they said:

//For details of how to apply to be on our product tasting panel, please call our York office on 01904 604604 and ask for the HR department.//

And for those who want to know why nestle is one of the world's most boycotted companies:
    http://www.babymilkaction.org/resources/boycott/nestlefree.html

From what I can tell, the baby milk thing is mostly about multinational corporations lying to people who don't know any better and have no means of educating themselves about the truth - it's not like they could just google for the info. Informed choices and all that...

According the the World Health Organisation Authority (WHO) 1.5 million babies die every year as a result of inappropriate feeding.

    What exactly is inappropriate feeding?

I am pro breastfeeding. breastfed my first son and will with my second.
But what is it nestle do wrong because ive had a look on the babymilkaction site and it just seems like they are trying to make money by getting people to boycott nestle?

I know about the recent milk contaminations in china but i thought that wasnt limited to nestle and that website suggests that nestle has been boycotted for over 30 years!!!!

I have heard about people not being provided with information about making feeds but then it is their choice to formula feed so why do so if they dont know how?

AND the advertising of formula well that is stupid, anyone with half a brain knows breastfeeding is better!

Why would "poor" people who can't arm theirselves with correct information buy formula anyway... breastfeeding is free??????

Sorry but i really dont understand all this so if someone wants to explain what the problem is....

Nestle provided formula to mothers in Africa, who don't have the sources to find out how to make up formula milk. They went on the word of Nestle and they were manipulated by them. Nestle provided the milk as they said it was more nutritious for the babies than what their malnourished mothers could have gave them but they didn't give them proper instructions/ resources to make up the milk.
Also they withdrew the supply of free formula milk and the parents couldn't afford to buy it, so the babies starved.
