Basically, some years ago Nestle heavily marketed formula baby milk in poor Third World countries. Due to some of the parents being poorly educated and water not being clean the formula was either incorrectly mixed or polluted.
Babies died as a result.
This has left many people anti-Nestle.
I am sure other people have other reasons for disliking this company but it appalled me sufficiently to boycott the majority of their products.0 -
Knowsleyroader, as far as I know it's still going on.knowsleyroader wrote: »Basically, some years ago Nestle heavily marketed formula baby milk in poor Third World countries. I hope this thread has at least opened up a few peoples eyes to this most unethical of companies. So what if a couple of pedantic posters got annoyed, this is far more important than MSEknowsleyroader wrote: »Basically, some years ago Nestle heavily marketed formula baby milk in poor Third World countries. Wasting NA- people are not going to be silenced if they think a company which engages unethical practices is being promoted. Why should the argument be 'taken to the Arms', as you put it? After all, if someone was helping to promote a company which profited, say, from child pornography or some other such heinous immoral practice, I would hope you would have no objection to people speaking out? This is no different in my opinion.wasting_noalibi wrote: »OK enough - some have made their point politely like knowsleyroader - others are just trolling. please just stop now or take your argument to the Arms as I suggested - out of respect to the OP who posted this for every1s benefit in good faith.
It's a free country, and if people disagree with something they have every right to give their opinion.
And stop calling people names like 'Saddo'- or you will find you will be chucked off the MSE forums as you were before.0 -
WNO- I do not see this as a political debate. I will make my point again: if people are helping to promote a company which profits from immoral practices, it needs to be pointed out.
Would your argument be the same if it related to other immoral practices such as child pornography? Or if children were being expoited in this country, would you still see it as a 'political' issue?0 -
well my eyes have been opened i didnt know about any of that. People can have there own opinion and since reading what nestle has done im staying well clear of them thanks op for the post but this isnt for me.0
