Hi all, i just read about your bird BB..we used to have the same problem then got a bird thing fitted on the top of the chimney by the people who service our fire. That year they came out , serviced the fire and cleaned the chimney for us fitted the bird cap ( sounds like a contraceptive) and charged us about £115 for the lot, which i thought was a good deal..no more birds and no hearing rain down the back of the chimney either..just a thought.

I need to have a look at what the top of the chimney is like - the others don't seem to have a hole big enough for one to fall down - but it's hard as I'm on a sloping site and can't see the top of the house easily!!!!! I might think about the bird cap (giggle - definitely sounds like a contraceptive!) although I won't be able to get the bird out now unless there is a way of putting a hugely long grabber down the chimney.

Hi Spud,
Have you discovered what was making the racket?

I am such a numpty.
I put the oven on to heat up and then came back here. I just thought - ooh, time to do the rest of dinner........and walked into the kitchen to see the food that should have been put in the oven still sitting on top of the cooker..........I blame it on this place.....
nice warm kitchen though

Not yet, but it's just spinning again and sounds OK now.
I'm praying it's something like BB suggested, though I do know there isnt a bra in there at the moment

Could be a coin spud that has escaped.......
I once had to get the washing machine man out a few years back because it wouldn't spin - it was the hook of the hook and eye from the back of a bra which had gone through the drum !
expensive hook that turned out to be!
