Could be a mistake by Lloyds.

For online applications, their site says they will close your old cards and transfer any balance onto the new one. That's what happened to me, although it took a couple of weeks to transfer my balance across.

Same here, Chris. As an existing Lloyds current account customer (for 15 years) and Classic credit card holder (for 9 years) I was still able to apply for the Platinum card with their online promotional offer of 9 months interest free. My Classic credit card never had very good benefits and I hadn't been using it at all - it had had a zero balance for several months. Soon after getting my Platinum card (with a £9k limit, higher than any other card I've had with anybody) my Classic card automatically closed down.

What I don't know is how it works if your pre-existing LTSB card has any debt on it at the time. I don't know whether they'd count it as a promotional balance transfer at 0% for 9 months, or whether it would attract the standard APR, which would render the entire exercise expensive and pointless.

When I applied for the new amex card from LLoyds I asked them to close my two other accounts and transfer limits of 15k to the amex card. Then last week I reapplied for the Plat card back via a full application and they gave me 15k at their zero percent for 9 months. So I am in the position of stoozing 30k.
CTT, how long did it take you to apply-be-approved?
I've just rung Lloyds and they asked a few Qs and said that would post an application (3-4 WD). Then I'll have to read, agree and sign. They said it can take 14 days. Is there anyway to do it quicker?

I recently applied (approved) for UB Gold Card 0% 9mths BT&Purch. Posted the application on a Tuesday, being approved on Saturday (4 days).

    Cheers!!!!

haven't been for ages on a branch... do everything online...

I suppose it would save me the 3/4WD for them to post me the application, I reckon they wouldn't process it instantly though.

    txs anyway...
