In Internet banking when I click on apply for products I am told I am pre-approved for a £2500 limit based on internal information. Obviously this is not definite however I just wanted other people opinion on this.

This is a definite offer. All limits appearing on FD Internet Banking are alreadr approved and waiting for you to agree to it. I have been with FD for the 10 years and never been declined for credit when applied online for the pre-approved offer.

You have been approved, they have used your history with them, you'll find the same if you want a loan0

The message (denoted by an 'i' symbol) says subject to status and completion of the form.
If you're concerned about a credit search you could ring and ask?
I have an offer for the Gold card (with a fairly reasonable credit limit), but won't be taking them up on it because...
 a) I don't need a 5.9% for 60 months BT, and
 b) To get the 0% for 12 months on purchases you must make a (min) £100 BT, and incur a few days interest plus a £2.50 BT fee...and I already have 9 months remaining on a 0% on purchases card.0

Where on the internet banking does it show you the pre-approved offers?0

Do you see 'credit cards - find out more'?

Do First Direct ever reject customers who already hold existing products with them?0
-
Just called them now. The advisor informed me that after the sale ends on 31st july, they intend to launch some new products e.g. rewards cards and new savings products. I read something about this rewards card on the boards before.
Anyway, does anyone know if First Direct reject customers who already hold existing products with them?0

            No replies from anyone. Anyone?0

I think the key phrase is "waiting for your application" - you still have to apply for the card. I think they then check/score you and then give the final approval. No idea if they reject current customers or not, but I'd say it would always be a possibility.0

I think the key is subject to status. The preliminary internal information that they have on you indicates that you have a higher likelihood of being accepted but this is not a guarantee once a full credit search is carried out as new adverse credit information may come to light then which will mean that the application will be declined.
It may also be that you pass a preliminary credit scoring method but you may not pass the full one.0
