W800i O2 Delay

I ordered a SE w800i on the O2 website, quite a good deal 29.99 for the phone, 19 quid a month for 50 mins any network and 200 texts.

Trouble is they let me go through with all the deal and order it then next day send me a mail saying out of stock :-(

I phoned them and they say they don't have a delivery date for more phones..

I realy hate it when they take your order knowing full well they aint got any in stock..quite deceptive i think, especially when they have taken the money for the phone from my bank account!

anyone had the same prob? how long did you have to wait?

I did same thing and cancelled my order as I felt let down after it allowed you to request next day delivery. I'm now waiting to see what deals come up nearer Christmas and also with the W900i coming out very soon too. I also wasn't too happy about it being O2 menus and stuff although I was told it wasn't that bad compared to a Vodafone mobile with Vodafone horrible firmware.

Have hardly noticed the O2 menus to be honest ... use a Voda SIM in mine.

Ordered a new W800i free on upgrade last wednesday. Guy on other end promised maximum of 3 days delivery. Nothings turned up yet, and now i know why.

Will get back on phone tonight. If they haven't got any, i'll have to see what else i can get ou of them for free!

I have been looking for phones for a while now, I'm a student who needs more texts than minutes. So far the cheapest and most worthy offers I have seen are:

O2 : £4.99 for W800i, £19pm for 300txts and 75mins (18month) https://www.o2.co.uk/students, and no, you dont need a NUS. I ordered this last night. Already this is £25 saving on your previous price, so if you want to keep your delayed order, I suggest cancelling the other one and save yourself some money.

Vodafone: W800i free, £16pm for 1000 off peak voda/landline mins and 250 ttxs. This was my original order, but i was told I would have to wait a month, so I went to o2. This is available from https://www.phoneboxdirect.com, but feeling tells me they have upped the price of the phone to nearer £40 since i checked.

I KNOW AS FACT THAT VODAFONE DIRECT HAVE IT IN STOCK, BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY WONT GIVE ME THE CREDIT, PROB CAUSE I DONT HAVE A JOB, I DONT KNOW. ANYWHO RING THEM, 08000686570. THEY TOLD ME IF I HAD PASSED, I WOULD HAVE RECIEVED THE PHONE NEXT DAY FOR FREE.

Anyway, as keen as I am, I have spoken to O2 demandingly, and well, stock isnt expected for at least a month, also they are keen on offering me alternative handsets, but the W800i is the best on the market to me, as it has everything, and I say this with past experience with the other great, the SE P910i. Anywho, if you are persistant, you can get another phone for free, which you would otherwise had to pay for.

I am going to change my order to another department of O2 who have the phones in stock, but I think these are set aside for those who are porting to other networks, therefore a valid PAC will be needed. I will post more info as I get it.
