  • Good luck for tomorrow Maverick. Mine was today and went so much better than I expected as I have been seriously brickin it the last few days.

I didn't even have to see the judge and it helped that the BR clerk and the OR caseworker were really friendly too.

    I've wrote about it here

Ashamed? Of course you're not! Only the seriously rich can kick back and never worry about the debts. So many people on here seem to have hit the wall after something happening that meant they couldn't work as much - be it illness or redundancy. All we're doing is trying to get on with our lives, which is almost always a lot easier after BR. Good luck this week. BL

Again thanks for the comments, and Emma thanks for the link to your hearing - made me a little less uneasy about the whole thing..

    So, the next installment..
Went to bed quite early last night as i was shattered from not getting much sleep the night before - was quite cool last night so slept very well (so i'm sticking with blaming the heat for not sleeping the night before).. Woke about 7am, had a coffee, shower & chilled till about 8.30am - was quite relaxed about the whole thing.. Set up and picked up a coffee and sat around the corner from the court - think setting off at 8.30 was a little early as i was there at 8.50am.. Went in at 9.10am and sat around waiting, 3 other people arrived who were also filing, as 9.30am approached i must admit i started to get a little nervous.. The clerk came out at 9.30am and checked everyone was here - my name was 1st on the list so i was hoping i would be 1st to get sorted - lol.. 5 mins later he came out and called my name and told me the judge had signed everything off & i should go to the clerks office downstairs and he would call me when ready, i was followed down by the 3 other people, after another 20 min wait he called me up to the window and confirmed i was now bankrupt & that i would receive a call from the OR's office later today, handed me an envelope (which contained a copy of my application and the bankruptcy order)and that was that..

10 mins sorting things out & 40 mins sitting around waiting - lol..

Went for a wander around town, popped into see my advisor and gave her a copy of the bankruptcy order - picked up some groceries from the market, another coffee and walked home - got home about 11am & am now just sitting around waiting for the call from the OR..

I guess the easy part is now over and the worst part is next !!!..

I will update later once i've spoken to the OR..

    Regards
    Shaun.

Glad to hear things went well for you......have to disagree though the worse part you've already done!

Good luck with the OR interview (not that you'll need it)

Well, that was quick - just had the phone call from the OR who asked me a couple of questions, regarding previous address's and if i had any assets that would lose value if not dealt with straight away..

I have the proper interview on the 7th Aug to which she thinks may only take 30mins - she seemed very pleasant & friendly, that might change when she has all my documents - lol..

Forms are going out today with details of what she needs from me in the way of bank statements etc.. I did ask about my bank account (i recently opened a Co-Op Cashminder account which all my income is paid into), she said she didn't think it would get closed, but it would be down to the Co-Op - she will write to them informing of my bankruptcy and then it's down to the Co-Op to decide what to do - i might ring them and pose the question..

Luckily the OR is based in Leicester so i can drop everything into the office rather than post them, just for my own peace of mind that she has got them - worst thing i guess would be for everything she needs to get lost in the post..

    Regards
    Shaun.

  • Hi Maverick

Glad things have gone well. Its nothing like as bad as you imagine it is.

I have also opened a co op cashminder account and they have told me it is no bother about you being bankrupt and it is the perfect account for people who are bankrupt.

My OR caseworker said that the co op account was fine too. Just waiting for my account details now.

I'm waiting for my OR appointment but hoping its soon as I just want it all done and can try and move on.
