Congrats to you both on a fresh start.homeschooler wrote:I am so relieved that I am bankrupt. Its like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders!!
I still remember the feeling when I walked out of the court - it was almost elation, could breath more easily, had a bit of a bounce in my step for once! Obviously some people may judge you for it but what do they know. Enjoy your fresh start and next thing to look forward to is discharge and the end of your IPO if you have one!
Good luck with the OR interview.matched betting: £879.63

I must be one of the few who never felt elated after BR. Its probably because we still cannot make ends meet and I'm still struggling to pay bills etc and dealing with husband's debt.

Hmm I can relate to that very well FYP i'm 16mnths after BR & still just about treading water......bankruptcy? it's not the great cure all people think it isWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Sorry to all lurkers/newbies but i have to agree with FYP,PHIL AND DEZ. I never felt "relaxed/released" until about 5 mths down the line. Now i am barely making ends meet, only difference is no phone calls, letters ect. So it's still better just not perfect. But then what is in this country at the min. Nothing and it's going to get a lot worse.DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Dont get me wrong.....its not meant in any way to put anybody off sure i've no more creditor hassles and no more debt so in that way it is better it's just not great still struggling to get by...although with the credit crunch happening it looks like more & more people will be looking at bankruptcy as an option to lifeWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

I am just happy that I won't be getting anymore hassle off the credit card companies as they have hounded us and even harassed my parents so I feel a huge sense of relief in that respect but I am under no illusion as things will still be hard as dh is desperately trying to avoid going BR and save his business and the cost of everything is rising as the credit crunch bites.
He is hoping that he can get Lloyds (his only creditor) to continue accepting lower payments on his loan and credit card with frozen interest as he is still not in a position to meet the repayments. He will owe Lloyds 20 grand altogether once you add in the overdraft on his account and the overdraft on our joint account which he will now be liable for. We have a dream of moving Cyprus to live in the next 3-5 years but he would probably need to avoid br if at all poss so he can set up and run a business over there.
Hope things improve for you soon. (((Hugs)))Made Bankrupt on 28/7/08 with debts of £39,437
OR interview was on 30/7/08
