Cooking seems to be the only thing that is holding all their attention at the minute....DS1 13, DS 2 10, DS 3 8 and DD 6!! also SDS 15 and SDS 13!! although they only come here alternate weekends and every Wednesday!!

Thank goodness, as they are all constantly bickering with each other over computer games:(

Queen of string, my grandma taught me how to cook! She turns 92 this month! And still remembers the first time we argued over me stirring the pot, well actually i wanted to stir it and she said no as it was starting to boil over, I was only 4 years old at the time, and I remember hiding under the settee when she scolded me!!....Im now 31 and I am so panicy about my DD stirring the pot!:)
Your comment had me questioning myself about how I learnt to cook and I was transported back immediatly to that memory!! Thank you!

  • I'd really like to join in this month please.

Food Budget is £300 pounds for the month (includes cleaning products) for 4 adults and 1 dog!

My shopping is coming from Tesco tomorrow so I'll keep a record of the total it costs.

    Thank You :T

  • Just wanted to say that I will hopefully be joining this challenge when it hits September - for now I am collecting receipts and pulling my horns in a little but without knowing exactly how much or how little I can spend. I only spent £25 in the last fortnight as we ate virtually from our freezer and store cupboards, but now we are back to normal except I am cooking a lot more frugally!

It will all make sense on Sept 1st I just know it!! And then I can set a real budget and work to it, for now I am just randomly moneysaving where I can! Training my OH to bring home receipts is a major challenge but one I like to think I will win.:rotfl:

    Hope that made sense...:o
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Morning all, hoping for another NSD today :money: . Not too nice out there but the washing is out- hoping the wind will dry it before the rain comes!
SC on o/n so made the meat part for the steak pie......looks ok, just to make pastry later.
Need to also make DS some more porridge today as he's only 1 tub in the freezer- I use an Annabel Karmel recipe (creamy oat porridge with pear and dried apricot) although sometimes use different fruits/dried fruits in it. He loves it for brekkie. I make huge batches and freeze them in tubs.
The plum cake is vanishing and all the cookies from Tue are gone (there were quite a few). The Bounty bars served from the fridge are yum (I ate one this morning before I even thought about brekkie!! :o)
Hope everyone is well and welcome to everyone who is new :T

    Hi all:)

My Friend is getting married tomorrow and I bagged a bargin in a charity shop today, I got my outfit for £4.... its a fitted suit from principles:)

My parents are going to babysit for me! So no cost there thank goodness!

I when we go to Mr T and Mr A on sat nite that i will buy ingredients and we can make our own treats, the kids are getting very excited about this and are trawling through cook books looking for inspiration!!.....now im worried about the baking tins and loaf trays, lol I dont have any, but i will beg and borrow from my aunt, who loves baking!!

Enjoy the wedding, mumoffour, I'm sure you'll look fabulous in your new suit

What a great idea to get your kids interested in cooking. I think I might try that with my gson when he comes to us for a week later in the month.

I need to eat :rotfl: into my August budget today as we have my son and his OH coming for supper tonight. Think I might get some fish - future dil doesn't like any food that is wet - so anything with sauce, gravy, etc is out although I can always serve it separately.... Have yummie new potatoes in a grow pot thingy on the patio so just need some veg. Bought some pud thingys they love back from France as a treat, so they came out of the July budget.

This board is getting huge - I really must count up how many there are on the list on the first page, but with new people joining every day it just keeps getting longer and longer! Fantastic :T

Hope everyone has a good day.
