Has ANYONE with Tiscali had 18185 blocked?

As above really.
We have had Tiscali as a broadband provider for the last 3 years, and apart from it running slow at times, it has been good!
We are with Post Office line rental (BT hybrid),and use 18185 for most calls in the UK and abroad. It all works well together.
The lure of £100 per year saving of the line rental, makes me consider the line rental inclusive package from Tiscali. I know that if it goes to a bag of worms, it will cost me £125 to return to BT.
I am willing to risk this, but my number 1 concern is, on the Tiscali package, will they activly block my use of 18185?
So are there people out there, with the line rental inclusive package, who cannot now use the 18185 service?
Thanks in anticipation.

I'm not with Tiscali for anything, but as far as I know you're only allowed to use 18185 and similar with a BT line and their rental. BT had to allow this when they were privatised.
These calls will possibly be blocked or similar when not using BT for line rental.
Tiscali's policy should be in the ts & cs somewhere I would think.
Have you asked Tiscali, that should possibly be your first port of call?0 -
Thanks for that oldagetraveller, when I signed up to the Post Office line rental,I remember in their terms, it said that override numbers were "taboo".
I have however, been able to access the service.
Tiscali are vague when asked about it.
Still my main question is....Has anyone been denied service?
Thanks.0 -

I have my landline with Toucan, which is owned by Tiscali. (I would never again have broadband with Tiscali, but that's off thread.)
Toucan allow you to use 18185 etc.RIP independent MSE.

When you move on to the Tiscali unbundled (LLU) line rental service, indirect access codes like 18185 do not work.0

I am on the £14.99 line rental + free weekends + Broadband with Tiscali and I am using it with an Orchid box
Weekdsys all calls via 18185
Weekend via Tiscali
You also get free weekends international calls to 10 popular destinations (including free to US and Canada mobiles).
I was never denied service via 18185, 1899 numbers.
Tiscali CS is not an easy bunch to live with but it will save you ££ if it all goes well.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Dave,
BT won't charge you £125 for going back, as long as you haven't changed to a cable provider. They'll reinstate your old account.
We've just done this and are waiting for Tiscali to release the line.
