Hi all hope you can help. Today I purchased the sims2 double deluxe game and it installed fine and was working well. However when I come to edit the houses or play the game all the walls are red and flash
ie you cant see any wallpaper and it makes playing the game impossible.

I wondered if it may be graphics related? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and its the same. How can I find out what my graphics card is without taking my pc apart? Also where would I buy a new one if indeed thats what I need? I have tryed to find answers on the web but to no avail.
Please can you help

Press Start, then 'Run'.
Type in dxdiag
In the window that appear, click on 'Display'.
Either post a screen shot or type out what is in the display section. (manufactorer etc).
Most likely requirement is that you need to update your graphics drivers, which is straightforward, and I'll post the ones you need once you reply.0 -

On the first screen shot after typing dxdiag, there are tabs along the top. One reads display I need the info from that.
Otherwise from the 2nd screen shot, press 'hardware' and then 'device manager'.
In the window that comes up, press the plus icon next to 'display adapters' and reply with the text that appears.0 -
might be easier if you go system properties>hardware>display adapter, and report that, though it looks like an onboard graphics chipUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

drive file here
personally, i'd pop into the bios (probably by pressing either the DEL key or F2 when booting and give the chip a little more ram, or, even better, fit a dedicated card, you probably (but don't quote me) have an AGP slot, a geforce 6200 card would only be around £25 and a massive improvementUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Beaten to it
Thats the HP driver, there is probably a more recent one on Via's own site.
But the poster above is right, I doubt you'll be getting much performance on the integrated graphics and would be worth buying a cheap dedicated card if the newer drivers don't fix the issue.0 -
Thanks all, I have downloaded the drive file but there is no change
I guess the next step is buying a graphics card but I have no idea where to start with one of those
