I Wanna: PAYG Mobile to Unlock

I want a cheap mobile which I can unlock cheaply (ideally free!).

All the cheap Nokia's about at the moment for <£15 seem to be not easily unlocked (see sticky thread) as they are all BB5 (no idea what that means, except only network provider can unlock).

Purpose of the phone is to take on holiday or on a night on the beer so I don't have to worry about loosing/getting stolen!

Anyone seen a good deal about recently?

Paying £15 for phone and then £15 for unlock is too much - I might as well get a 2nd hand one off eBay.

p.s. Phone only need to make and receive calls and texts. No music, colour screens, camera etc. required.

Have you tried asking on your local Freecycle?

Depending on what phone is offered you should be able to find a free PAYG sim to go with it

I used to buy PAYG from phones4u and chose O2 as network, all phones I bought from O2 Network through p4u are unlocked already.

I bought few weeks ago Nokia 1650 at CPW,as they sell them unlocked.

I used that phone abroad with a sim card from the local network without any problem.

Go to Tesco, they do very cheap phones. If you look around you should be able to get phones unlocked for £5

All Tesco's phones can be unlocked.

do not wish to contradict a fellow forum member but have read elsewhere that Tesco phones are in fact very hard to unlock.
