I keep getting a message from ebay saying my credit card is due to expire. If i don't update my details in time will i lose my eBay account or is it only important if you want to sell something? i mean can i still buy from ebay even if my bank details and card have expired?

this is not from ebay, it's a spoof, just ignore it, ebay will never ask you for your details or paypal. Just log into your paypal account and you will be able to see from there how your account stands.abolish call centres now!0

If it really came from ebay and not paypal, then it's a spoof. If it claimed you would lose your account if you didn't update your details, then it's a spoof. If your credit card isn't about to expire then it's a spoof. Need I go on?
Edit: Oh yes, forward it to spoof@ebay.co.uk or spoof@paypal.co.uk for confirmation.0 -
I got a message from Paypal saying I had to become a verified customer. They want me to give them my bank account details and they say will pay 2 small amounts of money into my account. I then have to email them back to say what the amounts are.? Not sure whether to or not, as it seems like a dodgy thing. Anybody else come accross this? Seems I cannot pay for anything by paypal until I do this.keep smiling,

That is probably real. But log into your paypal account to be sure, and chose verification from therechinagirl wrote:I got a message from Paypal saying I had to become a verified customer. The alert came through to my eBay account. My card does run out at the end of the month..it is from ebay, what i want to know is will i still be allowed to buy if i don't update my account?0

That's normal for the verification process. You would need to do this to fund payments from your bank account, but you can still make payments from a credit/debit card using paypal.chinagirl wrote:I got a message from Paypal saying I had to become a verified customer. yes i had this email too,i checked it,paypal do put two tiny amounts in your bank account, like 26p and 40p etc...i did check my email first though, but it is the way to become verified.0 -
I cannot understand why ebay would have any record of your credit card details.Kimberley wrote:The alert came through to my eBay account. My card does run out at the end of the month..it is from ebay, what i want to know is will i still be allowed to buy if i don't update my account?
I don't see why you would need to update them, as, in theory, you could delete the card from paypal altogether and fund your payments by other means. But this is ebay telling you to update them. Did I mention I was confused?

It's because i sold some stuff on eBay and before you can sell you have to give your bank details..0

 Should have thought of that. Got a bit caught up in the spoof train of thought. Applying common sense, ebay should only remove your selling privileges, but as we know, common sense and ebay do not often go hand in hand. I could imagine ebay insisting that once details were entered, for security purposes, they must be maintained. Hopefully, someone else in here will have some experience of this, otherwise, you could always ask them. Not very helpful, I know.Kimberley wrote:It's because i sold some stuff on eBay and before you can sell you have to give your bank details..
