knocking out a backboiler/chimmeny brest

Having our bathroom done at the moment and the old boiler chimney is being removed as part of that. This is a tiny one built into the corner of the room - just two sides and nothing below it as that had been removed before we came in. Our bathroom guy has just done it as part of the general prep so no additional cost. I presume from the discussions above you are talking about a much bigger chimneybrest though.
Best to ask the people who come around to quote for the work whether any supports etc are needed. If it is only small though the costs may be small if they are doing it as part of the overall refurb.0 -
I had this done a few years ago. Cost me 3k. The new boiler cost me 2k. And the reskimming of ceilings and walls cost me £700. I had to have work in my bedroom above as well, as the flue went through both rooms.
It's messy, disruptive and expensive, but well worth it for the extra space.
I had to have a support put in which about five ins deep and a foot wide, and otherwise my house would have fallen down  but that's not a major problem. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
