    cazziej, I have not been to Cairo but I think Luxor would be good for a 12 year old (depending on their interests of course).

    Luxor has some smashing hotels with pools overlooking the River Nile, you might like to price it up but as sturll says, Egypt in August will be brutally hot.

    Most deffinitely. Perhaps he may enjoy Sharm or Hurghada more. But you'll love Cairo!
