If you can hold out until August 16/18 thats when all the flights drop from there astronomical prices to a far more reasonable price.

    Otherwise:

    Hi Sturll

Is that right, about the flights dropping around 16/18th August??

That would be soooo good if it is, as we will be looking to go sometime between 14th and 18th August.:j

When do you think is the best time to look? Looking for somewhere nice and hot, preferably AI for 2 adults and 1 12 year old, for 1 week. Budget at the minute is only £1000, so not sure if this is "do-able", but will have a bit more hope if flights go down, I will look at booking flights and accom separately.:T

    Best wishes

It sure is. Im not sure if this is for all destinations but generally it covers most flights ive ever had to use - usually US.

At a quick glance on Expedia for what you asked flying on the 19th August for 1 week in Cairo (brutally hot) £1300 (Not AI, but money is 10:1 over there. So effectively £1 here = £10 over there)

Yes, there are roughly 10 Egyptian pounds to 1 pound sterling and whilst things are quite a bit cheaper in Egypt I think it is misleading to suggest that the cost of living is 1/10th of the price here (this is based on a recent trip to Luxor).

Thanks, will go and have a look myself now. Never been to Egypt before - is it somewhere a 12 year old boy would enjoy do you think??

    Thanks, Carol

We hired a car and driver for £200LE so lets say £20 for a full day.

It perhaps was a little misleading to suggest that the cost of live is 10:1, but i would certainly say many things are and many things arent. I do remember that 200 cigs at the airport cost £12LE so £1.20!

Eating out is unbelievably inexpensive, we ate at an Egyptian restaurant and the whole meal came to £35LE or £3.50.
