Advice needed regarding Orange!
Hi there,
Can anyone give me some advice?
Last night my phone stopped working, the screen has gone blank and wont light up again throughy no fault of my own. It wasn't dropped and the screen isn't cracked.
I rang orange this morning expecting they would replace it free of charge due to the electrical goods 1 year guarantee within the sales of goods act.
This wasn't the case, they want me to claim on my phone insurance costing my another 20 quid.
Obviously I'm not happy about this but they say they will only honour the guarantee for 6 months which I've now passed so if I want my phone replacing for free I have to go through a long winded process with samsung which I really don't have the time to do.
Does anyone know if Orange are wrong in what they say? I would have thought that because I purchased the phone from them a technical fault within a year should mean that it should be replaced free of charge?
Cheers, Mike

If you cant fix it via say a firmwire upgrade (connecting your pc to see if it gets recognized) and if you are saying you did not damage it yourself in anyway - AND if its under one year (might be two year) but I think its one year warranty - then you need to contact the manufacturer (Samsung) rather than supplier (Orange).
And Samsung may do it for free or may charage if they deem that its been damaged by you.
Going through Orange will just cost you more me thinks as they will simply be using Samsung to fix it in the end.0 -
I can confirm the above (I used to work in the Orange call centre), first 6 months, Orange will change it, after that the warranty is with the manufacturer. You'll need to send it to Samsung, call them and they'll give you a returns number.0
