I must say that I have an excellent postie. I had a friendly word with him, and now if nobody is in, he leaves any parcels in a designated secure place. It worked for me, so it might be worth a try.

I think thats the worst thing.
I always speak to the postman - nicely.
They don't do the sorting now or even go into the sorting office. They just pick it up from one of the red boxes.
I guess he just looks at the number

Most of the drivers know my sis works at the sorting office and would pick up any parcels for me. It's just one or two who don't seem to give a damn.

My postie is fab - always friendly and when I'm not in leaves the parcels etc in a safe place.

but I guess not everyone is as lucky

Also - the postie/courier doesn't always know what is in a parcel - it could be something huge, but inexpensive or small and valuable  so they are not doing it deliberately, but I suppose they should all be treated the same regardless of size/value.

  • Our postie is really good and when he's delivering, we get lots of mail. We always know if he's on holiday as we don't get mail for several days or just get one or two items. When he's back, he comes with armfuls of the stuff which the other postie just didn't manage to take on his round! If we're not in, he leaves parcels tucked away in the front garden and puts a card through the door to let us know where he's left them. He is often despairing at some of the other staff RM use, though. I ordered a guide from Play.com a while ago and only the invoice slip that comes with the book was put through the door - no actual book! When I called the sorting office to politely enquire what might have happened to the book - was there a loose book lying around the sorting office, for example - I was told the staff at Play.com had probably stolen it! With an attitude like that, it's really not worth complaining about anything else but I do wonder what else we're not receiving. I've also joined the Royal Mail test posting system and hope that will at least help root out some bad un's.

Well this worries me a bit cos alot of you have said your packages just get left at the front door! Well, i never use my front door unless someone knocks! So, if any parcels have been left there i haven't got them! Sometimes the front door doesn't get opened for weeks!

We don't have a regular postie at the moment. But there is this old man that keeps coming round and he keeps giving me mail for the next street! This is soo annoying! Thing is though, we have never got our own mail on these occasions, so god knows what happened to it

I wouldn't trust our postmen as far as I could throw any of them. Its always different ones all the time and it can be as late as 4pm before we get anything. We can go for days without any post at all and if theres not enough of them working we don't get a delivery! Last week we got all of our neighbours post. We live at 64 ***** road and quite often get the post for 64 ***** lane, who knows who might be getting our post. There are things we have been expecting to receive that have never turned up. One of the postmen we used to have would sign for recorded items himself and just shove them through the letter box. The funniest thing of all is that I complained to Royal Mail and they said 'we'll send you a book of 1st class stamps as a goodwill gesture' - guess what, I didn't even receive them! They're absolutely useless and the sooner there is a proper alternative to Royal Mail, the better.

The trouble with postal problems and competition wins is that very often they are just sent without warning.
I live in a flat with a door entry system. Since Royal Mail ended the morning delivery the postman can't always get in and countless items have been returned to sender. Really they should hold on to the items and put a card through the door next time but this doesn't always happen. I have complained many times about this (to Postwatch as well). But not much seems to be done. But I can't help wondering if this is also a problem for other flat dwellers.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I get that with wrong addresses as well - i live at 11 ****** St and I keep getting stuff for 11 ****** Avenue:mad: I even chased the postie down the street once to point out his mistake and he did it again the next day - Aaargh!!!!!

I just pop it through their letterbox as they're round the corner but I've never had anything in return so who knows? They may have kept mine if they got it and I wouldn't know

My Postie is good - but never rings the damn bell for the apartment intercom! Had red slips left on a few days running and was sure our intercom must have been broke as was in the flat watching tv. Have checked in about three times and had a takeaway pizza delivered. Dont mind going to collection depo but it is a miles walk and I already leave the house at 7am to get my train!
