    Thanks all for your replies. However during the avast health check on Saturday my Laptop lost power (my own stupid fault)

    Now I can't connect to internet. BT think its lost its IP settings (?? not a clue!!) As it seems to connect to Hub and fault is between computer and opening explorer. System restore not worked...went back to early July..still no joy.

    Not got recovery discs (yes again my own stupid fault)

    Waiting for HP to call later. Hopefully they can help.

    Otherwise stuck with a laptop thats useless!!!

    If you can remove it, try reinstalling it.

    Hi

    Finally done a system recovery and now made my back up discs....its taken all evening and 16 CDs!

    Going to stick with norton for time being and when new 60 day trial ends I will pay as don't want to risk messing up laptop again yet!
