But have you used them or do you know of others that have apart from the 'mentions' on this forum?

I've used them personally three times and I know of two other frequenters of this board that have used them at least once and another poster's dad. :D

I'm not going to recommend or criticize something I haven't used!

Just interested, especially those who have been on forum for a long time, but nothing to do with me! Same for a number of others, who seem to be very well informed, unless they are extremely well read and have taken up property as a hobby?

Fees are on the way up
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=&xml=/money/2008/07/28/bcnprices128.xml
Homeowners can expect to pay more to sell their property as estate agents admit to raising their fees amid falling property prices.Estate agents typically charge between 1pc and 1.5pc of the value of a property, but some are increasing this to 2.5pc to boost their earnings as house prices fall.

The warning comes as figures suggest that the slump in the housing market is worsening.

David Beakon, senior negotiator at Brighton-based estate agents Bonnets Estate agents, said he had introduced a new flat fee of 2pc on multiple agency properties and had even gone as high as 2.5pc cent in recent weeks. Multiple agency properties are those which homeowners decide to sell through more than estate agent.

"A lot of people are getting desperate to sell and so they put their property on with a load of agents. The chances of us selling it when we are competing with five other agents are slim and in a difficult market, you don't want to spend the time on these sorts of properties if you are not going to get a good fee.

"If people walk away because the fee is too big then that is fine with us if it is something that we do not want to deal with."

Out of the 5 estate agents, there were only two we wanted to go with. Both had fees of 1.75%. We went and spoke with them and they both turned around and said they were "non-negotiable"

As such we have opted to go with House Network.

Don't tell me you've given them over £400 even without a sale

Hopefully you've plumped for no sale no fee option. Great saving of 1% there...but one is left wondering how much less the house will sell for without the marketing expertise offered by a real, live person negotiating rather than via someone who may be looking for a property in your area who stumbles across that website and views/offers without any pressure by an EA.

I suspect they will offer significantly less far outwighing the 1% extra the EA would have charged. :(
A great bargain for the buyer though! :)

No, we paid £200 up front. The other £200 is upon completion of a sale.

A small price to pay compared to the savings that can be made if we was to go with an estate agent.

Dont forget that the House Network is an estate agents, just without the local offices.
