Can anyone advise if this is a good deal?

Not too bad a deal deal (for a standardish machine) I did post this link
in another thread somewhere about 3weeks ago, I have a medion lappy
about 18mths old never a problem and when I mispalced the restore CD
I phoned Medion and they replaced it with no problems, so I rate there
tech support a good 8 out of 10.

Oh yeah just noticed the wheres my OS thingy (getting iffy now)

    Found the link http://www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50482892

I would describe it as a reasonable deal. The save £500 claim though is ludicrous. At £999 it would have been perhaps the most overpriced PC ever.
  • Similar offer in Tesco instore at the moment with no claim to be half price and you would get your tesco points :D

Not sure of the exact specs but I did have a quick look and seem to remember it was 512 and thought it appeared to be a fairly good deal.

    .

For advanced gaming this pc will be worse than terrible , it will play basic games , but forget about any like doom and the modern games as its an embedded vga.

One of the reasons why some games will work is old style direct x should work but modern games rarely support it....halflife 2 maybe.Reason two is that embedded controllers use system memmory rather than dedicated gpu memorry.Reason three will be that the flat panel is worse than terrible for gaming.Reason 4 is that there is only two players in the games graphic card industry and ibm is not one of them.

For 500 quid you could get a great pc to do the same and have a 17 inch HEAVY monitor and dedicated gamers graphic card rather than embedded.

Do not include the scannner/printer as a good deal , its carts are VERY expensive and the thing itself is very cheap , and you can get open office which is compatible with icrosoft office for nothing and off the internet legally.

a quick look here will help...http://www.e-woc.co.uk/ProductsList.aspx?CategoryID=47&selection=0

I would echo that about the graphics. There is not much memory in it either and the graphics onboard will want to use some of that.
My PC had 256mb of memory and a graphics card with 32mb and still struggled playing Sims 2.
If you have no AGP slot for a graphics card,I dont think you can even ugrade the graphics capability at all.Wouldnt be a problem if you werent wanting it for games.

looks like this board: http://www.computerhq.com/MSI_915GLM-V_915GL_LGA775_800FSB/MS-7131-040/products/partinfo-id-553392.html - at which point the only graphics expansion option is a pci and that won't be crash hot. a brief search reveals 128mb being the best you can do pci wise (within reason - i found a 256mb card but it cost more than the pc....)

There's a far better machine on the Grabbit board right now for a Dell at £531.
Far superior processor, memory, graphics, hard disk and a 17" TFT.
It doesn't include the printer but printers are £40 if you want a better one that that Lexmark.

We like Dell too for good pc deals. Argos are doing a lexmark special offer all in one for £34ish . We have one and it's ideal for what we print, which is mainly Bob the bUilder.

Oh and a brother for £29.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Cheap Lexmark are a BAD idea - You get only one cartridge - colour - filled ' for demonstration purposes ' and no black cartridges. You need to spend £20 or so for that plus a new colour cartridge quickly. That £35 printer will cost you a further £50 in the next couple of months. Its how they make the money.

Not strictly true, My lexmark came with the cartidges both full to the brim
and 4mths on still bothe half full, on about 10 full print outs a day.

They could of changed there marketing stragety mind you.
