carribean in october

Hello,

Anyone been to the caribbean in early/mid-October? is the weather OK? - i've looked at many websites, and it seems to be OK but I'd like some first hand accounts.

Cheers

Alex.

I have been in November and the weather was lovely, had rain some days but it doesnt last long then within half an hour it's glorious sunshine again, when it rains out there it really rains too!! I am so envious of you:mad: :p What island are you going to?

Been there early November on a couple of occasions and would agree with above. It is not quite as warm as other times of year and may be overcast for a while on some days. It does howevr depend on whereabouts you are ... the further south you go e.g. Barbados, Isla Margarita, Aruba then the better the weather will be. Florida can be a lot cooler.

I got married abroad three years ago, and was tied to October due to hubby's job. Really wanted to do the Carribean and researched the weather in loads of places.

You really are taking a chance in October in the Carribean. There is every possibility you could get great weather all holiday, but there is still a chance it could rain heavily for days on end.

We chose Jamaica and it rained non-stop for five days. We still had a good time, but all excursions were cancelled as the roads were in a mess. Not allowed in the pool either, while there was a chance of lightening.

This was the edge of a hurricane in Cancun, so thankfully we hadn't opted for there!

    Thanks for your replies.

No actual destination picked yet... I dont mind a shower for an hour every day - I went to the dominican republic a few years back and I kinda enjoyed the cooler air after the afternoon shower.

I have a budget of about £2500 for me and my girlfriend for 2 weeks - any suggestions?

    Cheers

As above, for October I would suggest one of the more southerly islands .. but it all depends on what yu want, do you want to lie on a beach all day or do you like to tour the island or ????

Oct still in season so there is a risk of not so good weather.

With that £1250pp budget a 14night cruise is in range, visit more places and if the weather is really bad they divert.
