black tie - information please

My son and his fiancee have got tickets for the TV awards tomorrow night at the Royal Albert Hall, very exciting.we are not used to 'dressed up' do's. I understand that for girls it is a dressing up occasion , long drss lots of glam which she will do perfectly but are there actual rules for men's clothes, does black tie…

as was said earlier - standards - HA! People have really let things slip these days. I went to a black tie do last weekend and the men were 99% turned out properly, and the women, well... I suspect a lorry load of anti static fabric conditioner was involved somewhere along the line. Keep it simple, keep it classic (long dark dress) and you will look smart and have something you can wear loads if you are lucky to go to lots of that type of thing!
