Setting up a new TV....HELP!

I am at my wits end, some help or assistance would MAJORLY be appreciated. I am more than likely missing something so obvious, it is stabbing me in the nose! I got a new TV yesterday along with a new DVD Video Recorder. I set it all up and the TV is up and running, I can watch my Cable through it. My DVD/Video player is up…

That's because you're not doing it using an RF cable.

Tune the DVD recorder to AV1 or whatever the AV socket is called that links to the Cable box. To record off the cable box, you'll need to have the recorder set to that input.
