My husband never buys anything over the internet, I do, but have as far as I know, haven't ticked to join anything, it is a thirty day free trial, which we can cancel, which we hope we can, just wondered if anyone had heard of them.

:rotfl: pmsl at Vicky.
Apparently if you don't actually join you can't get the free holiday - what was the point of the trial?
Meh, we got this too, had the phonecall from goodmusic, complained to ts and ioc. Trading standards told us that pressplay claim that they haven't charged anyone's cc.
So, if anyone has been charged, it's really important you contact trading standards. Preferably pressplay's local trading standards (essex?) not your own, ours was a bit unhelpful. But their local is familiar with them apparantly :T
A couple of other things; we got another phonecall from them a few days ago, offering their travel brochure this time!! We said no:rolleyes: . Also, they featured in the Guardians Capital Letters last saturday, woohoo

Just rec a letter and brochure like everyone else it seems never heard of the company and have definitely not had a phone call agreeing to brochure. Am going to email and also copy the letter and cancel something I haven't agreed to and put a copy in our staff room to warn other people. Very helpful reading others comments.0

I have had exactly the same experience as many of the people on this forum. Fortunately, when I cancelled this unwanted and unasked for membership, I kept the the reply from Travel Steps. The reply included the phrase 'We can also confirm that your details have been removed from our system' dated 5 September 2008.
Today, when I checked our statement, there was a debit of £99 from Home Shopping!! Please, please keep an eye on your statements.
This all began with the purchase of a CD from Goodmusic. Must say, this is the first mishap with online shopping.
Card company will be the first call of the day tomorrow.0 -

It's really important that you tell trading standards....... when my dad spoke to ts, they had been convinced that pressplay hadn't even got anyones cc number....0 -
Have just received an email from Goodmusic.co.uk (I believe formerly Goodmusic.com) slight change of name but are they back in business? Name of parent company is Capital Ideas Retail Ltd of St. Austell in Cornwall, and the email was from Mark Greethurst. I could be totally wrong, of course, but since they are welcoming people back, I assume they have to be the same company.0

I ordered an item from Winning Deals in response to an advert in a TV listings guide. I had problems placing the order on-line and ended up doing it by phone. Just after the goods arrived I got a phone call to check that I was happy with my order and during the conversation the agent asked if I would be willing to receive a brochure of "travel offers". As I wanted her off the phone I agreed to have a look at it but at no time was money or membership mentioned or I would not have agreed.
I've now received a letter from Travel Steps confirming my "membership" and advising that the "trial" will last for 30 days after which they will charge the credit charge with £99 annual fee. As well as this they are have made a £1 charge to my credit card.
When I called them (on an 0870 number!!!!) they said the £1 was a membership administration fee. The agent agreed that they would cancel the membership and refund the admin charge. I've also sent them a cancellation letter by recorded post (found their postal address via the web - you cant get a signature for recorded mail from a PO Box). I will be checking my cc statement very carefully from now on but I feel that these companies are little more than con merchants!!!! I will be very careful about where I order from in future.0 -
Just an update for Our Nip. I found the Good Music company website welcoming back it's customers so I asked about the cd which was ordered before the change which I never got although the payment was taken. The reply from Ryan Pinhammer starts out:
"Unfortunatley because your order was BEFORE the 14th June 2008 the order
belongs to Haysbridge which is a company now in administration." " I sympathise with your problem but
I'm afraid there is nothing more we can do."
It was only £9.98 for 1cd I would have thought goodwill might have covered that!0
