Free Graphics Software wanted

hi I wasn't sure where to post this, but thought this might be the best place.

I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a free graphic making program (if that's what I'd call it), something like paint shop pro etc.

I've tried using the trial ones and don't really want to spend to much on buying software, when all I want it for is to make sig/banner thingys for forums that I'm a apart of.

Any help would be much appreciated.

May not be relevant to what you want or need. But for vector graphics there's https://www.inkscape.org
