ADVICE medion laptop no modem port for dial up??

Hi people hoping someone can help i have got a new windows vista laptop but theres no slot at the back for my phone line to dial up ???and no i am not a miser before anyone tells me to get broadband i so wish i could but i live in a part of north antrim which doesnt get it and i am sick of ringing bt to complain any advice please???

What about mobile broadband? It's much faster than dial-up. Quidco are doing a good deal on Three at the moment. Think it's about £7.50 a month plus a good cashback offer. Get a friend with a 3G phone from any of the networks to check the signal for advanced features like video calling or mobile internet before you buy from that network.

You need to get yourself a USB modem.

Somebody has started a thread about the deal I mentioned - 3 usb modem. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1052607. Can't stress enough to check out the signal in your area before you buy though. It works great for us but can't get a signal for love nor money at my Dad's house. Works great at my friend's house near the border though - it switches over to southern signal at no extra cost.

a) They won't have a clue what you're talking about;
b) They won't have any;
c) They'll charge you well over the odds if they have any.

I think technically saying the words "going to currys" is illegal on this site lol!!

you may however browse their website, use quidco to get cashback plus any other vouchers for money off from currys but never ever enter the store!lol

they are notoriously bad for pc stuff!

you could try mplex if you're in Belfast - think they have branches elsewhere too - they also have a website, usually cheap and usually know what they're talking about!

well i checked online and seen some so went to currys they had none in stock i think 12.97 was the cheapest one ,directed me to pc world in derry ,but i cant get there today so still on my old acer ..haved checked argos woollies asda tesco ...no luck

Thanks for that i will have a nosey but i dobut very much if it will work and i kinda need unlimted i spend alot of time on a forum and have 2 teenagers who use the net a lot but i will have a look .

Just a question some might know the answer too .....confuses me why on earth do they make new laptops with the modem socket at the back and then cover it up ? bets me.......maybe its because i am blonde lmao
