I think this should be relatively simple, but I'm struggling?!?!
Using the 2000 version of Excel, I wan't to put a number in cell 1A and then either click a button or keyboard shortcut and let excel fill in numbers 2 to 15A with a step of one, so
I type 12345
Excel does 12346
12347
and so on until it reaches 15 consecutive numbers. It could be any number, I don't know if that matters.
Thanks in advance.

You can type 1 in cell A1, then 2 in cell A2.
Next highlight the two cells, and go to the bottom right hand corner of cell A2. A small bold black cross should appear. Click and drag this down to the cells you need to fill.
You should have the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, .... in the cells you wanted.0 -
Put the first two numbers in the first 2 cells and then highlight both cells.
Then go to the bottom-right corner of the last cell and the cursor will change to a small black cross. You can then drag the cells as far as necessary.
The alternative is to put the first number in cell A1.
in cell A2 enter the formula =A1+1
in cell A3 enter the formula =A2+1 ..... and so on until you have as many as you need.
As far as I know, there are no shortcuts to do this, but you could build a macro to do it for you.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Loads of ways to do what you want:-
Put formula =IF(LEN(A1)>0,A1+1,"") in cell A2, copy to cells A3 - A150 -
Hi,
Its not a keyboard or button shortcut but you could try the following:
A1 = 1231
A2 = 1232
If you then highlight these 2 cells, then go to the bottom right hand corner of the highlighted cells. You will see a little black square. Hold the Left mouse button on this and then drag the mouse down.
For every cell you drag down, Excel will replicate the difference in the first 2 Cells so A3 would be 1233 and A4 would be 1234.
You can repeat this for as far down as you like.
You can also change the difference between the first 2 cells to whatever you desire so if you had 1231 in A1 and 1233 in A2, highlighting & dragging would give you 1235, 1237 etc.
Hope this is of some help...0 -

Or if you wanted to do it using the menu's, put your first number in A1 (i.e. 12345).
Highlight the cells you want filled (i.e. A1-A15)
Either click on the Edit menu, followed by the Fill option then select Series (or press the shortcuts keys by holding down Alt and the pressing E, followed by I, followed by S)
To get Excel to increment the number by 1, you can just leave the defaults and it will fill the highlighted cells by one each time. (If you wanted it to increment by 5, change the step value by 5, etc)0 -
