Personally if I was manager I would make the staff take all the reduce to clear off the shop for it's finally reduction.
I have seen it my local supermarket where they crowd around hemming the poor member of staff in. Once off the shop floor they can reduce the items in peace.
I did the see the other week that they where reducing to clear the bread and while everyone was around that they brought out all the chilled reduced to clear and chucked the two crates in chillers. Everyone was around the bread so I got chance to have a look with being hemmed in.
I don't mind getting a bargain. I might have a quick look take something and have a look around the shop and then come back to see if they have finished. I am never rude and never push or crowd the staff member. To me life is to short to spend hours going around a supermarket looking for bargains. I don't enjoy shopping at the best to times that is why I go in the evening.
Also I would never dream of taking something and then going back asking them to reduce it again. Again something if I was shop manager I would not allow. You picked up that item knowing the price.
I do feel sorry for the members of staff who's job it is to reduce to clear as they seem to get some stick for that they do. And people pushing and grabbing like it is some sort of jumble sale.

We head for the two chiller cabinets where they put the reduced stuff. Go through it selecting what we want, only buying stuff we can freeze. We then carry on doing our normal shopping round the store, soap power, toiletries, nappies etc. We then head back to the reduced chiller at 3.40 where the helpful SA reduces all our already reduced stuff down to 75% off.
We dont fight over the stuff in the chiller, but we have had people try to take stuff out of our trolley before now and get cross with us when we tell them it is ours. The staff are happy to further reduce the items and are never rude or impolite about it. Afterall, it will be thrown away, which I think is a sin as most of it is freezeable. We usually spend between £25 and £35 on reduced freezable meat, pizzas etc. Which would cost us between £100 and £140 if we paid full price. All of the food is perfectly fine, we have had Tesco finest Gammon reduced down to £3 something this week from over £16 as well as Pizza Express pizzas down to 96p from close to £4.
Ive had other customers look at us and actually say, OMG are they sure? Yes, we are sure. With the price of everything going through the roof I need to save money wherever I can. I think the people who pay full price for stuff just because of some kind of pride are mad, totally insane!!! I think yellow sticker hunting is a necessity to stop the sin that is wasting food. I salute all bargain hunters!!

Getting the bargains is one thing, we all do it. However what you describe is extremely unfair on those of us who are polite enough to actually wait untill they have been reduced before selecting. I am willing to guess that if you saw aomeone do that to you, you wouldn't be too over the moon.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -

I have to say I agree with you, that it is not fair to take things at one price then take it back when it is being reduced again and get it further reduced. If you have taken it at the sticker price then you should pay that price. We all like a bargain, but that is taking an unfair advantage.0 -
Is it not reduced at the till anyway? Like if you pick it up when it's £1 and then the SA subsequently marks it down to 50p, isn't the price put on the system so that the handgun prints the right price on the sticker? Then surely the 50p price will come up on the till system even if you've not taken it back and had it restickered?
I'm not a yellow sticker hunter.. I go shopping at the wrong times.0 -

I totally agree with you. Sometimes if I can get to a Tesco at the right time I can pick up lots of reduced bargains and I love it!!!! Begrudge paying full price for stuff when the reduced items are such good value.

The best thing is cookies, packs of them reduced to about 10p.
Once in Morrisons, the guy was reducing soup, but only by a bit. I asked if it would be reduced any more, and he blushed, then printed off a 5p sticker, and told me not to tell anyone.

I have had they coming round with stuff in morrisons asking do you want this or that. Most of it is reduced down to about 9p.
I find sainbsurys best for reductions. Punnets of Blueberries 10p was £1.99 :eek:and packs of 4 x cherry scones for 5p a packet :j
All now safely in my freezer.
