Want to grow some veg but only have one window sill

I grew baby carrots this summer in a window box but don't think they would do so well in the winter.
When I grew lettuce I used half a plastic bottle (cut length ways) to act as a mini poly tunnel and protect the seedlings. This worked quite well so you could try that instead of glass.
Another cheap n easy option is to use cling film or similar film.
I have some lettuce seeds in at the moment and they are not growing nearly as fast as they did in the summer but they do seem to grow, so worth a shot0 -
I after some details on things I can grow on the window sill, preferably all year round.
I have quite a lot of space, not only in the kitchen, but also in the utility room (as long as the cat doesnt get involved!!!)
I have previously done, tomatoes, peppers and herbs.
Anything else I can do?
Thanks

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Have you tried basil
I had several varieties in my kitchen last year, and hope to keep this year's batch through the winter
Chillis do well, too. If it's very sunny you can do bulbs - hyacinths and daffodills.

You can grow loads of things indoors. There's a book called 'Self Sufficiency in a Flat' you can get off Amazon that tells you how. I'm growing bean sprouts and mushrooms under the sink at the moment!'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
