dell delivery

Ordered a computer for my daughters birthday and It was to be delivered on her birthday. They were unable to confirm wether it would be a morning or afternoon delivery slot so I waited in all day. Apart from going to pick up from school for 10 mins and I left a note.
Delivery was between 8am and 6pm.
Yes you guessed it was a no show. I could trace the order right up to it being put on the lorry . Tried to contact the carriers but they close at 5.30pm.
Left an email for Dell customer services who would follow it up on Monday. This was not satisfactory so having held for 50 mins on the carriers line I was told they had tried to deliver at 12 o clock . Well they were told that they didn't try to deliver or leave a card at my door.
Was told they would not give a morning delivery I would have to wait in again all day.
Emailed Dell with the outcome an told them that either they got their carrier to deliver at a time convenient to me or I would buy elsewhere.
Not an unreasonable request given that I had wasted a day all ready. Dell did agree that the standard of service I had received was below what they deem acceptable.
Still awaiting a response from dell so me thinks I will be sourcing a computer at a more reliable source.
rest assured I will tell more than 10 people about my experience.
They reckon for every good trasnsaction you tell 3 people but for every bad you tell 10. well I know and will tell way more than 10!!
totally unacceptable to spend 50 mins on a 0870 number to carriers and 20 mins to Dell. Thank goodness for saynoto0870.com!!!!

yeah you go girl !!! you blame Dell because another company gave you crap service.

Why don't you just pop down to the couriers and pick it up instead of blaming a company who kept their end of the deal.

Actually, Denise38 is right to blame Dell, she paid them to supply and deliver a machine to her. If Dell choose to use another company to deliver, it doesn't absolve them of the responsibility of delivering it. Therefore, Dell did not keep their end of the deal.

And what's the point of paying for delivery then fetching it yourself????

Dell supplied her with a PC and the courier failed to deliver OR Denise nipped to the loo, missed it and they didn't leave a card.

I didn't suggest she drive to Dells depot and pick it up but the couriers if it's close enough. She'd have had her PC and wouldn't be complaining about it or spending an hour on the phone,.
Life is so much easier when you join in with it instead of watching it and complaining.

They were sat in the Van, saw you got out then pounced.....

I will say it was the customer at fault really I mean stay in means stay in
you had plenty of warning so you could of organised the school run ages beforehand.

Its ultimately your decision as to what you do on a delivery day, but it was
naughty not to leave a card, and Dell dont do the deliveries....So they arent to blame.

Dell definitely need to sort out their couriers - we had problems with them last month. No delivery on the promised day (and there were several people at home all day, waiting), and when it eventually did arrive several days later it was not in the pre-arranged time slot - it was lucky I just happened to be home. Couldn't contact the courier direct, as had no details and Dell said that they would only deal direct with Dell anyway?! However, by way of apology Dell did send a free printer (Brand New Boxed Printer, going cheap, anyone? :D ). Then there was the saga of getting the XP recovery discs..........
Wouldn't be in any hurry to buy from them again, despite the prices.

I wouldn't blame the original supplier for the failings of a courier either, I agree it is annoying, DHL left a card without waiting this week, the usual driver knows my mum takes a few mins to get to the door and he waits, he has even called me on my mobile to make sure she is OK if she isn't in for a delivery. Typically this delivery was urgent:mad:

Actually on thinking about it I wouldn't chance a birthday present not arriving, I would have it delivered a few days before to give a window of opportunity to correct any delivery problems.

Nobody in the company I work for have ever had a problem with delivery from Dell - you could almost set your watch by the delivery driver - however it could be a different company doing the deliveries. Most of us now get the stuff delivered to our place of work and then take it home from there (at least we don't have to take time off etc.) - its always an option (assuming your manager isn't a whingey old git who has a problem with this).

I paid for a service and I did not get . Ultimately that is Dell's problem.
However when they did finally phone it would appear that Dell are well aware of their problems with their courier.
As to me having to farm my 3 children off on other people rather me be able to drop them off 2 mins away. Get a life!!!! Why should I inconvenience other people just so that I can sit in and wait for a delivery that might or might not turn up. By the time he got out of his van and rung the doorbell I would have been home anyway if that had been the scenario and they had actually turned up.
The fact of the matter is they DID NOT come to my door.
Which was confirmed 10 mins ago when the courier did finally deliver.
According to the man there was only one box on Friday and in his words "What is the point in delivering one box when there should be two"
Still waiting for Dell to phone back and arrange delivery !!!
A result finally but at what cost 2 days sat at home and over 90 mins of calls at 7p a min.
All i can say is the blasted thing better work!!
It was a birthday present that was ordered last minute as they had a good deal on. It was their choice to offer that particular day for delivery not mine.!
I left it as a surprise and didn't tell her cos I thought she would be really pleased . Having told her there would be a surprise later for her and there wasn't was the most disappointing thing.
