We went to view a couple of houses that are way beyond our budget, naughty he! :rotfl:
There is a very well-maintained large 4-bedroom detached house with a double garage on a large ground, we understand from the RE that it is a deceased estate. We understand that we are the first buyer viewing the property since it went on the market 4 months ago. We like the size of the property, location and the tender, loving care that had been given to the property. We only need to update the kitchen and change those hideous carpets. So we gave it a gamble by putting in a cheeky offer . After the final counter offer of 20% less than the asking price (this falls within our budget) and our offer was accepted :T
Our mortgage broker and the solicitor said that we are doing very well with the price. They said that this type of property will be snap up within a week paying full asking price if it was on the market last year ...... YIPEEE :j:j:j keep the credit crunching.
Wahooo..........the days of rambling through the boxes for our household stuff in our rental will soon be over :T (we did not unpack just in case we need to move).

Congratulations!!
Myself and boyfriend did exactly what you did and managed to get a property in an area we have dreamed about living in. Same situtation as yours where the owner had recently deceased and we managed to get a 25% reduction in asking price. We are chuffed to bits :j0 -
Congratulations in your new home.
Hope you are happy for years to come:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

YAY! It's nice to see a FTB getting a 4 bed home for a price they can afford!!
Congratulations!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Finally some good news for us - we are looking for a 4-bed house and the ones we are interested in are at around £250k mark. 20% off and I would buy one!!!! May be brave enough to go to some viewings now....Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

It is critical for us to buy a house within our budget cos' the mortgage is on hubby's income only. So our loan will be 55% of the house price.

I am also after a 4 bed det but i am waiting for the two for one offer coming in a few years...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Congratulations!
20% off sounds like a good deal and gives hope to us all!
Best of luck with everything x0 -
YIPEEE :j:j:j keep the credit crunching. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -

Besides knocking off GBP60k from the asking price, we also save on stamp duty, pay 1% instead of 3%.
The house is 5 mins walk from our rental, and I could monitor the progress of the renovation.
