Recieving phone calls from my boyfriend in the army whilst I was abroad.

My boyfriend is a British soldier who is currently fighting in Afganistan for six months. I went away to America for a two week holiday and took my phone so that I could speak with him. There is no charge to recieve calls from Afganistan when he rings my mobile. He does not have his mobile out there so he uses a satellite phone which he pays to use.
I phoned t-mobile to check whther or not I would be charged to recieve his calls and was told that I would not however that I should turn off my voice mail as that may cause additional charges. Whilst out there our two year old daughter was taken ill in hospital so my boyfriend was calling frequently.
After ten days my mobile was cut off and I could not recieve any calls. I am now back in the UK and got straight onto t-mobile to ask why they barred my phone and they said because I was over my credit limit. I asked that must be impossible as I have not made one call as i can only recieve them from him. They said then that my bill is £431 and that they can not put my phone back on until I pay it. i told them that I had spoken to somebody who told me I would not recieve a charge etc but they said they have no record of my phone call. I do not know what to do as I do not have that money to pay and need to get my phone unblocked.

Unfortunately there are roaming call charges for receiving a call when you are not in the UK. However, I would ask TM if they can reduce them as a gesture of goodwill as your hubby is fighting for Queen and Country etc :)

    Good luck

I accept no liability if you chose to rely on my advice.
  • Ask them for a copy of the call. It's their word against yours.

TO make things swifter call them and ask them to read all the recent notes.
Ask specifically when your account was accessed and by whom (try and remember when you called them to ask this question and then ask for the notes for this date.

    Hope this helps

You could pay this and then take them to the small claims court to get the money back (£50 approx). if you don't pay it it may affect your credit rating.
    baldly going on...
