I bought a dress from River Island a couple of weeks ago, but its now gone down to half price in the sale.
Can I return it and re-buy it straight away. I need the same one I have coz they don't have my size in the ones on the shop floor.
Do they legally HAVE to sell it back to me or can they hold onto my return and put in on the shopfloor when they want?

Of course they don't have to sell it back to you -- they don't have to sell anything at all to you if they don't want.
And whether they put it back on the shopfloor at all, or at your branch, or today or next year, is up to them. And to be honest, I don't see why it shouldn't be up to them.0 -
No they dont legally have to refund you or sell it back to you and give you original refund of the purchase price, yes its annoying when prices go down as well as up but its just unfortunate.0

just be honest with them...tell cashier want you want to do and you will probably find they are all right about it..they are only human you know...(if they are not happy to do it just keep it )....nothing ventured nothing gained
I was always happy to do this when I worked in retail and staff do this all the time, believe me....I love a bargain myself0 -

Worth a try I reckon. What's the worse that can happen? They say "No." which leaves you exactly where you are now. Nothing ventured & all that...
(Hubby reckons I'm a cheapskate because I bought another pair of sandals that had been reduced after I paid full price for an identical pair. Returned the original unworn pair with receipt for full refund in line with store policy next time I was in town. Just good economics I reckon!)Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
what way have they marked the sale ones? if it is with an extra tag or sticker that can be easily removed then buy one in the sale (any size), take off the sale sticker and return it with the receipt from the full price one.
Bit of a faff though, and obviously not possible if they have just written the sale price on the original label.
edit, similar to whar grannybiker said!
and i've done the same, bought shoes, seen them later in the sale so bought them again & returned the full price ones!Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
hi on the receipt if you are still within the day allowed, you can refund for a full price
however they dont have to sel it back to you, but yes you can still get a full refund if within the days allowed0 -
I wonder if OP would go back if item went up in price and said they will pay more0

-
Well I am sure the Op is annoyed who wouldn't if a item gets reduced but the shop doesn't have to take it back and if it wasn't for some people I am not saying the Op case taking the mick by wearing a item of clothing or use something then taken it back and then saying its no good for whatever reason perhaps shops wouldn't be so pickyPrincess_Coupon wrote: »Strange comment to make on a money saving site0

Some shops can be funny about doing that cos they obviously loose the full value. Try and pick a cashier who doesnt look authorititive i reckon!
I do get what savemoney is saying though!0
