It seems that there is now a new company linked to this saga:

76 HIGH STREET
CROWLE
S!!!!HORPE
LINCOLNSHIRE
UNITED KINGDOM
DN17 4LB
Company No. 067469340 -
All three companies mentioned in my previous two posts have directors or former directors with the same surname!! Here they are:
Andrew Lowe
Steven Lowe
Yvonne Lowe0 -
There is yet another company linked to all this:
A TOUCH OF GLASS CONSERVATORY & WINDOW OUTLET LIMITED
112 DOWLAND AVENUE
HIGH GREEN
SHEFFIELD
YORKSHIRE
UNITED KINGDOM
S35 4LA
Company No. 06725259
This company actually trades from:
Churchill Business Park, Unit 1
Churchill Rd

DN1 2TF
The freefone number (0800 077 8266) being used in the card adverts was transferred to the above company on 17 March, 2009. The calls to 0800 077 8266 are actually answered on 01302 732190. This number is also associated with the above company.0 -
Hi
In response to this post about the Grant Subsidy cards which people receive through their door i actually received one of these cards July/August last year. At that time I was in the market for new windows and doors and was put in touch with a local company called Real Energy Home Improvements who actually quoted me a lower price than all the other companies I had been quoted from.
I had the windows and doors installed and have had no problems whatsoever - received my 10 year guarantee no problem.
Just thought I would point this out as you always only seem to hear the bad things about companies. I felt more at ease as I didnt have to pay a penny until the job was complete and I was satisfied.

I have just received one of these cards. Having just had cavity wall insulation put into my home and got grant from my energy provider I phoned the number without thinking too much about it, and have made an appointment for them to come to my house tomorrow evening. Then the fog began to clear, lots of things didnt add up. - 10% deposit up front. - they would give me price and would be able to do the work next week - but would have to sign up ther and then to get the grant which he said was 60%....I dont know it all just didnt feel right. When I googled details on the company they were non excistant except for all postings on this forum.
Thank you people think I will give it a miss!!0 -
They never learn do they - I just had ANOTHER card through the door, but it is a bit different this time - they've changed the date to 2009, and added the word Private, before grant, otherwise it is identical in content.
I had a previous report to the ASA upheld, I've just emailed them again to advise that the company concerned is still at it.
It's not that you may not get a good deal out of the eventual company who fit your double glazing, but the card they deliver is misleading and does not comply with ASA standards.
I want to know the company i am dealing with, and not be stuck with just an anonymous 0800 number which is answered by someone being vague about who they work for.
The way this card looks it's as though there are grants being given, for you to find that it's nothing more than an advert for a double glazing company. The 'subsidy' then being comparable to TV adverts saying 50% off.0 -
We recently had this company (Real Energy) come to our house near Leeds to install 2 new exterior doors for us and the fitter who was a genuinely decent guy did a really good job fitting our doors. It wasnt until a few days later that we noticed there were some marks on the insides of the glass panels and some of the clips from our tilt/turn stable door were missing. So we rang them to tell them about this ok Mr S we'll sort it for you. Were still waiting approx 6 wks after the first installation for them to sort it. We eventually spoke to a man with the inital J, he was a nasty piece of work, he was suppose to be a manager of somekind. I asked informed him that i would inform trading standards if this wasnt sorted and the reponse i got was "Dont threaten me, dont threaten me, ive dealt with Trading standars all over the country, they dont bother me so dont threaten me" I informed him i wasnt threatenin him but i was giving him the option of fixing our problem or i would go to trading standards. Over the last weekend we had heavy rain and water has leaked in to our kitchen. Im still waiting to speak to this guy.
Use this company if you wish but be careful!0 -
I've just received the same card as detailed by other posters in this thread - in North London. It breaches the same ASA rules that they were judged as having breached before. So I did a quick on-line complaint.
I wouldn't have known or been able to do all of that without the helpfulness of earlier posters! Thank you

I received this card through my door. I rang the number 08003698898
The man that came round to give me a quote was from Real Energy Home Improvements Ltd from Doncaster. Yes he said that the 40% was if you signed a contract there and then. I was told that I would get a 10 year guarantee through a Company called Certass. They came to fit my windows and doors, one man took one day to fit 7 windows and 2 doors. The job they have done is terrible. They disconnect my home alarm, 2 window frames have cracks in them, the back door didnt lock, and also the back door and frame are damaged. The front door didnt lock properly either. What a nightmare. The man said the fact that they had disconnect my alarm was not his respobsility of putting it back in working order. All the silicone was worse than a baby could have done, and the wrong colour to match dark brown. Up to now they have adjusted the front door and back door, I was left all weekend with a backdoor that wouldn't lock and an alarm that would'nt work. They have arranged for an alarm company to come tomorrow to fix my alarm, at their expense so they say. They still have to replace 2 windows and the back door and frame. The number on my Invoice is unobtainable, they gave me another number of 01302 738964 and this number is the number for quite a few different Companies. Planet Solutions Ltd is also on that number. The whole thing sounds really dodgy to me. I wonder if I will ever get things right and receive a Certificate if they ever put the work right.0 -
Received a card through my door today offering "private home grant assistance" for double glazing etc. Had to phone twice as no reply. Said that we qualified even with my husband working f/t and me p/t. Could not give me a company name or address - when I asked who would do the work he said "Planet Home Solutions" - said I'd never heard of them and he kept pressing me for a time me and my husband could be seen together. Said the work would have to be done in the next 12 weeks, and we would have to pay striaght away, and we would get 50% off. Sounded like a scam to me. No details on web except that new co inc in Dec 2009! I'm throwing this in the bin after having read the forum. Thanks!0
