I accept your point but is it based on limited experience unless I am missing a point. I base my comments as the the senior partner in an agents having dealt with 1000's of sales.
Obviously mine is limited experience, but if you have had to make numerous complaints to professional bodies over the years this does not show the professionals (to whom we entrust the biggest purchase of out lives etc etc usual propaganda!) in a very good light!

Just a quick clarification: The Law Society represent the interests of solicitors. The Solicitors Regulation authority regulate solicitors and the Legal Compaints Service handle complaints.

And until your bill is paid (if it is due) then your solicitors hold a lien over your file and are not obliged to return it to you.
Happy to clarify further if necc but would recommend looking at the section on your bill about obtaining a remuneration certificate.0 -

I can only remember around haf a dozen parties making a complaint and in every case as soon as the relevant solicitor was aware of the complaint being made they bent over backwarsd to resolve th issue direct with the buyer or seller. So not aware of it happening very much.
In my case I am a member of the NAEA who could also be accused of being on their members sides. I reckon to be one of the good ones (EA's) -- I like most on here can't stand the average EA as it gets the good ones a bad name. However I do have a couple of heavy handed letters of warning from the NAEA when my company has made a mistake which we all do.
