As per the title please, trying to look on the SP website to switch but I cannot get past the screen asking me for these. We have ony just moved from a house that was very expensive to run on Electric (heaters all elec) and we have never had gas before so do not have a clue. Please can someone give me both figures that they use so I can use them and get past the screen asking me. I could call them but then I will not get the cashback!! :)

Thanks.

The UK average is 3,300kWh/20,500kWh electric/gas.

To get a picture of costs try variations on those figures.

What cardew has said is given as being the average on sites but i would be interested to know how many come close to this.

We live in a 3 bed house and have gas heating and water, the rest electric. Now without going into my bills and paperwork at this time of day to be totally accurate, our usage is about 6,000kwh electric and 10,000kwh gas. Which is considerably different.

Luckily i tool the plunge and capped Monday night as when i checked Tuesday the rates had gone up again  So timed that one right.

Thank you, I just need to add the figures before I can even get through to getting to leave my details to switch. We are on e-on and BG at the moment (not actually had a bill though, just BG for one week's usage) but I wanted to go onto the capped tariff with SP. I see NPower have capped too but the reviews I have read have not been all that!!

Jaxxy,I think you are out of step with the average. Your electric seems very high and your gas very low.
My figures are for 3 bed bungalow, OH not too economical, electric 3400, gas 17400 (used to be 21000 before changing to condensing boiler)

Exactly the same as you 3 bed detached, gas heating/water. Our elec and gas usage is identical to yours. Our electric useage I think tends to be higher as we have a couple of inner rooms with multiple spotlights that are on near all year round. the gas figure there is no questioning. We use heating throughout the winter as normal, I'm always amazed at the average figures myself. We had the same figures in our previous house near enough (actually it was about 4,500/14000 as we had a combi in old house so shower was 'gas' rather than electric

    Gas: 56.74 kWh/day = 20,700 pa.
    Elec: 11.87 kWh/day = 4332 pa

4 bed (extended) semi and our leccy comes in at a frankly ridiculous 6500 (hence my sometimes-derided purchase of the OWL ;) ) and gas is 18000. The main problem is we are a family of 4 (2 late teens sons) and are stocked to the hilt with bloody electronic gadgets. :o 3 PCs, 2 laptops, 2 Sky+s, 4 TVs, surround sound system, powerful leccy shower, Thomson freeview recorder (very power hungry even in standby), leccy oven, huge George Formby :D , TUMBLE DRYER (wife now banned from using this abomination  ), 2 fridge freezers etc. I'm determined to knock at least 25% of the leccy consumption over the next 12 months, and so far week on week achieving that. ;)

TUMBLE DRYER (wife now banned from using this abomination

I'm afraid I don't understand this demonising of certain products/services by people who think they are "saving the planet", or themselves from disaster by this action.
A tumble drier is a useful household item, as is, perhaps, a MacDonalds !

stocked to the hilt with bloody electronic gadgets. :o 3 PCs, 2 laptops, 2 Sky+s, 4 TVs, surround sound system,

To be blunt, I would say a tumbler was more essential to the average household than all the other stuff you mention above.
But of course saying that the tumbler is banned has a far better "green ring" to it - rather like saying "I've just bought a Prius" - when a diesel Fiesta would probably be a much "greener" choice !
