After months of my [strike]nagging[/strike] gentle persuasion, my husband finally rang AOL today as we have been paying £17.99 for years for broadband (as well as TalkTalk for phone) and I am desperate to save and get more of a package. He was primed as to what to say (they wouldn't talk to me as it is in his name). Anyway, without any trouble whatsoever, they said we could have faster speed, a free wireless router AND free anytime calls (day/night/weekends) - and all for cheaper - £14.99 a month! They also have me down as equal partner so I can speak to them in future.
I am dreading someone telling me that we could have done better but it does seem too good a deal to turn down, doesn't it? So, maybe this could help someone else persuade their loved ones to make that phone call!

Hi,
Sorry to tell you that I got all that for £6.99 per month, earlier this month, just by saying I was thinking of leaving. Here is the post
AOL £6.99
Infact they said I could only get 3mb/s but infact they've put me on the up to 8mb/s and I'm actually getting 4.5mb/s. so well chuffed.
Possibly give them a call back and try and get them to drop the price, as you will be on a cooling off period. £14.99 is well too dear, I had only been paying £9.99 per month for the last 18 months (was £17.99 before that).
Also I would try and politely tell them you are very upset you have been paying so much for so long. When I called then 18 months ago they gave me a month free as well as dropping the rate, when I pointed out that I had been penalised by being loyal.
Hope this can save you even more money0
