Its what the english call a swede, but the Irish call a turnip :D The yellowy ones. yum. Just stuck it in whole, on a bit of kitchen roll, after pricking it all over.

They are such a pain to peel when raw, and then boil normally, so will be using this method next time. Sounds yummy, and easy. :D

I think this should be in a Swede thread too, as would never have thought to look for under Turnip.
    Oh well...

Just another wee tip about turnips (or swede for you English people!).

Chew a wee cube of it raw and it is a brilliant natural remedy for acid indigestion. My mum used to do this and passed the tip on to me. It really works!
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Well, I'm only down the road and no-one I know would call the big one a swede ;). Tis awfully confusing.
  • And I'm born and bred in Aberdeen and have never heard it called a swede here. Turnip or Neep is what we say.
  • Hi, it was me who put the micro tip on here, I prod with a knitting needle or skewer. It is a good was for celariac too which is such an odd shape to peel. Glad I could help.
