Nokia repair centre - your experience?
I have a broken Nokia N95 8 gig phone I'm taking in for repairs.
Is it possible to take the phone directly to an authorised Nokia repair centre agent? If so, where abouts in London are these?
What do I need to show - proof of purchase or can they see the age of the phone by simply looking up the IEMI number?
How long do repairs generally take? I understand they can sometimes be done on the spot but would obviously depend on what needed fixing. If they sent the phone away what is the normal turn around? Any tips on simply getting the handset replaced? Do they give loans free of charge? If so, would it be another N95?
Lastly, has anyone used one of the phone book back up services available on the internet before they dropped their phone in to be repaired?

Phone them up to see when it is a good time to take the phone in so that you can do some shopping while they fix it.
Nokia phones are warranted for 24 months and the repair center gets all the details off the phone, no receipts required.
A very good service in my experience. They will also put in the latest firmware free of charge at the same time.0 -
The one in Old Street has fixed 3 or 4 of my Nokia phones - it took around 20mins a pop. No details were required as it was on the IMEI

I took my N95 to a service centre in St Albans about 2 weeks ago after it started crashing and screen failure.
Its all related to the IMEI, they type this into a Nokia database and can see the production date and warranty details. Normally its 2 years plus a small allowance for transit from the production date. What do I need to show - proof of purchase or can they see the age of the phone by simply looking up the IMEI number?
It took 7 days for mine although they did need to send it away to Nokia after they were unable to fix it on-site. The last time I took it in it was only a day when they could do it on-site.How long do repairs generally take?
Its best to connect the phone to a pc and sync the phone book with outlook or failing that use the phone backup utility that's in the pc suite.Lastly, has anyone used one of the phone book back up services available on the internet before they dropped their phone in to be repaired?0 -
I wish i'd of know this - just dropped my N95 off at Carphone warehouse for Battery failiure and i've been told 28 days possibly until it gets back to me.It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0

Many thanks to the OP for jogging me into action for something I had been meaning to do for ages.
My N73 had a screen seal starting to advance from the bottom of the screen upwards and was starting to spoil the display. Took it to my local Nokia repair center this afternoon, less than 5 minutes later they had replaced the seal under nokia's no quibble 24 month warranty. Execellent stuff.0 -
Offsite. They claimed to repair it onsite (took them a week) and told me that a software upgrade was needed - only getting 12 - 18 hrs battery life.Blimey! Have they sent it away or have they just got a huge backlog on site?
I collected it with full battery yesterday lunch and it was bleeping to be charged at 1.11am this morning.......It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
Had nokia 6280 once (which was refurbished) when I got it on a contract, it had very low battery life - that was never going to go away (nice phone).
Anyway I had trouble when it failed to startup / crashing on start up (after about 6-8 months of having it). I looked up on the internet the nokia repair site address, sent it FREEPOST to them and got it back in less than 14 days and working again.
Very impressed with Nokia (just wish they make their batteries better, are you listening nokia)0
