    OK, we're getting there :).

Double click Wireless Network Connection. It should bring up a window saying 'Choose a wireless network connection'. Is your Netgear listed in this window? If so, click Connect. Does the internet work now?

If not, on the left hand side of the Network Connections window, click Create a new connection and run through the New Connection Wizard: on the Network Connection Type screen, select the 'Connect to the Internet' option, then on the following screens 'Set up my connection manually' and 'Connect using a broadband connection that is always on'.

We've done all of the above & it's still not connecting. But it did say that windows could not connect to 'our surname' should we replace our surname with Netgear ?

Thanks for all your help, your a star :A

One other thing shazrazmataz, the first laptop we had in our house we had a lot of problems connecting to the router wirelessly until we discovered the laptop's wireless adapter was able to be switched on and off! Do make sure the adapter is on. There's usually either a special button or a combination of Fn key and F8 (or maybe F1 or something) key. Usually some light will come on to indicate it's on.

Here's a run through setting up with a Netgear modem/router. It might help

If you've turned on security settings in the router I think I would turn them off initially if you are having problems, until you get it working and then secure the network afterwards.

After 9 hours....yes 9 hours of trying to set it up, we phoned currys & spoke to the guy who sold the damn thing to us & he said that it should of only taken us around half an hour  so we decided to take it back for a refund.

When we got there we found out that the modem was faulty plus he'd sold us the wrong router

Well you can imagine how pi**ed off we were, so we ended up coming home empy handed .

Just like to thank onzey for all his help, it was much appreciated :T
