Was there some sort of setup guide with the (I assume) modem/router and have you followed everything? Can you give model numbers of laptop, modem/router. Are you saying the modem/router will not connect to your broadband line or that your laptop won't connect to the modem/router?
Get things working wired first and then deal with setting up the wireless side.0 -
Looking at your laptop thread did you buy one with wireless (WLAN) capability in the end? Are you trying to connect it wirelessly or wired?
Assuming wirelessly, go into Control Panel and click Network Connections. Make sure Wireless Network Connection is enabled. On the left, click View available wireless networks. Does the Netgear network appear in the list?0 -
Yes we bought a Toshiba EQIM, but the aol just wont work, for some reason it goes on dial up but we are on broadband. We've been trying to set it up for the last 5 hrs :wall: :wall: I feel like throwing the bloody thing through the window.
Any suggestions are much appreciated !Shaz xx

If so, in internet explorer choose Tools > Internet Options > Connections and select Never dial a connection0 -

.
Double click Wireless Network Connection. It should bring up a window saying 'Choose a wireless network connection'. Is your Netgear listed in this window? If so, click Connect. Does the internet work now?
If not, on the left hand side of the Network Connections window, click Create a new connection and run through the New Connection Wizard: on the Network Connection Type screen, select the 'Connect to the Internet' option, then on the following screens 'Set up my connection manually' and 'Connect using a broadband connection that is always on'.0 -
Best to turn off all firewalls, including Windows, while setting up. Have you followed C_M's advice and clicked View available networks and see if you can see your Netgear?0
