    And in a similar vein, if you pay as many bills as possible online by BACS and accept that method of payment, there are no more cheques 'lost in the post'. The only warning I'd add to that is that we find it best to send an email saying "your payment's been processed today". We don't send out many bills, but if we did we'd ask for payment that way and ask people to email us so we knew to check for payments arriving.

  • Since my original posting, I've persisted with the service and now send out 5-10 letters a week (invoices and some marketing materials for my company) and am very pleased. For me the cost savings are great, but it is more the lack of hassle (running out of stamps, for example) which makes it a winner. UKMail launched a rival service recently, but seems more complicated so will stick with viapost for now.
