I think your elder daughter's not behaved very well, to be honest.

If I moved in as a lodger, and knew the house was to be shared 3 ways, I'd be pretty unhappy at having a 4th person essentially move in. By giving a month's notice, I think your younger daughter's been absolutely fair enough.

But more to the point, they are both grown up, and shouldn't need Mum to referee any more!

Sounds like DD2 was used just to help out DD1, now new blokie on the scene its caused probs, good luck to DD2 and DD1 needs to prioritise
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?
  • I would keep well out of it - they need to sort it out between themelves and if you get involved at all you will most likely be thought to be 'taking sides' - in fallings out like this there are often a whole list of petty 'wrongs' (real or imagined) that each holds against the other, but in the overall picture of life these are insignificant and will eventially be forgotten.

It is the oldest girls house, and she now needs to firstly look at getting a new lodger and then getting over her falling out with her sister. I am sure the younger girl will soon relise that she misses the friendship of her sister, and this falling out will, in time, blow over.
