Apple all day every day IMHO, wins hands down over Windows! The irony is that everyone with a Mac uses just Mac software, but everyone with Windows wants Mac tools/software so their stuff works better but complain that it doesnt work the way they want it to! You dont see many Mac users saying 'Windows doesnt work the same...', or 'Internet Explorer is way better than Safari or Firefox...'

Admit it, im right!

Wow, this thread was goodwin'ed very quickly. Personally I don't believe Apple Inc can be compared to a brutal fascist regime that waged war and genocide across half the world.

IE 3.1 was available on the Mac, but it was a horrible piece of rubbish. I find OS X a bit annoying and personally prefer windows... but I'm not going to take it personally if people prefer it the other way around. Grow some hair on your balls and you'll realise that 'different people like different things'

I have a Samsung windows mobile phone. It's rubbish. Absolute carp. I have an Ipod Classic - possibly the best engineered gadget i've ever owned. I use Itunes, but if i didn't want to, there are still many ways of getting music on and off the Ipod without it.

Personally I quite like Apples and the Apple company but I'm getting pretty tired now of the Apple evangelism. If you dare say anything negative about anything Apple then you must be practically working for Microsoft. (Because of course besides OS X, windows is the only operating system in the world). :rolleyes: I suppose at least Apple have the good sense to make sure you're breaking your EULA if you use ITunes in the making of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

To the OP, you're not tied to ITunes for music as others have said but the same goes for the managing of your iPod. There are alternatives out there such as http://www.yamipod.com/

Eldest DD has a nano and has yet to download any music. Just pulls her fav tracks from her cd's she already has!

I guess there're advantages and disadvantages to having complete control of everything. For a start Apple can minimise conflict and compatibility issues if Apple have complete control of software and hardware. Whereas MS has to account for an almost infinite variety of 3rd party hardware (and software). Bound to be problems. But a disadvantage is that you don't get as many of the benefits of personal choice, innovation etc from the internal competition of a specific platform. Each approach has it's uses and which is "better" or more suitable depends on the purpose and the individual's use and tastes.
